Love exploring new, hidden views? I do!

Algar Seco situated in Carvoeiro (Algarve) is a fascinating landmark. A truly stunning area of coastline, with its unique rock formations, cave and sinkhole!

Begin along the Carvoeiro boardwalk, a picturesque cliff top walk along the wooden walkway, down to Algar Seco. (Keep an eye out for dolphins!) The boardwalk does finish here, where you then descend down various flights of steps. Algar Seco itself are a series of cliff formations made from limestone bedrock.

Take the right set of steps to venture down to "A Boneca", meaning "the doll" in Portuguese. This has been written on the side of the cliff to highlight the way through the cave, which brings you out to the 2 eyes of "the doll", and a beautiful view!

Take the left set of steps to go down to the sinkhole where the clear seawater reaches a shallow pool. If you are feeling adventurous, and have good shoes on... explore across the cliffs further to the sea!

Top tips:

* There is some parking by Algar Seco but this gets full in summer months.

* Steps down to "A Boneca" are steep, expect more tourists in peak season. The boardwalk is suitable for disabled and those less able.

* At the base of the Algar Seco cliffs (steps to the right) is Boneca bar which offers drinks and light meals. (4* on Trip Advisor)

* Wear good footwear, take your camera and binoculars!
