A trip down south!
Around a 3 hr drive south of Perth, my Auntie and Uncle organised a week in Dunsborough. Staying in a beautiful house with a games room, large balcony terrace, we were walking distance to some of the pristine beaches! A popular getaway destination, alongside Margaret River and Albany, there is such a range of activities for the whole family, not to mention some many beautiful places to explore!
Meelup beach in particular was a favourite of mine. Protected by Geographe Bay the calm waters, white sand and clear turquoise water is picture perfect! We spent an afternoon/evening watching the sunset, which is also a popular time for watching the kangaroo's! Something I will always remember and cherish - there were so many, some very large, jumping around and even coming down on the beach!
Keen to always try new sports and hobbies, my Uncle and I went to Primal Archery one afternoon. It took me a good few arrows to get the hang of things - but it was very enjoyable! With the rest of the family, we also went fishing! A few tips from my cousins and uncle - me and my Auntie soon become very competitive trying to catch a fish! We did get distracted by the huge ray swimming around the pier and bay though.
On our trip back to Perth we stopped off in Busselton where we walked the 1.8km long jetty. The longest timber-piled jetty in the southern hemisphere, it takes about 25 minutes to walk each way, with some amazing views of Geographe Bay. Right at the end you can experience the Underwater Observatory with 360° views across the Indian Ocean, and spot some amazing marine life.
