Quinta Da Regaleira & Palácio De Monserrate, Sintra - Portugal

Quinta da Regaleira... a Disney princess location to me!

Classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, Quinta da Regaleira is one of the main tourist attractions in Sintra. Designed by the Italian architect Luigi Manini, you can visit the romantic palace, chapel, and luxurious park with lakes, fountains and the Initiation wells.

Open almost everyday (closed on 1st January, 24th and 25th December), you can buy tickets online here, or at the ticket office on arrival. Tickets priced at just €10 for an adult online. Note - there is some limited parking near the entrance, but the main road is a one-way system.

If you spend the day visiting some of Sintra's beauties, Quinta da Regaleira cafe is a good stop for lunch. They have some great "dishes of the day" (Prato Dia); Vegetable lasagne, Beef bourguignon and duck rice which I had! Palácio De Monserrate did not have a cafe open this time of year.

As you drive down the winding one-way roads from Quinta da Regaleira you arrive at Palácio De Monserrate. Another beautiful palace and gardens, attracting romantic writers from all over the world. I just absolutely loved the architecture here; the ceilings, colours, patterns and detail was exquisite.

You can buy tickets online here or at the entrance, priced at €8 for an adult. There is a free car parking just opposite the entrance.

Top Tips:

  • Wear good footwear, there are lots of steps/hills

  • Take your camera!

  • Make a plan for your day - so you don't miss anything!
